The big picture: SEDAR+ transition 

The launch of SEDAR+ in February 2023 will mark an important milestone for Canada’s capital markets. The new, web-based application will make it easier to access issuer information, while modernizing the process for filing that information with regulators across the country. Whether you use SEDAR+ as a filer or investor, you will experience significant, positive changes.

Comprehensive plans are in place to enable a smooth transition to SEDAR+.

Between September and February, organizations and individuals will be provided with the information, support and time they need to be ready to use SEDAR+ when it goes live. The transition will happen in stages, with specific windows set aside for onboarding, training and final launch preparations.

Onboarding: Getting organizations set up in SEDAR+

Outreach to primary contacts of SEDAR subscribing organizations, including issuers who self-file, begins in September. The streamlined onboarding window will be October to November.

All organizations that currently subscribe to SEDAR must complete a series of steps to gain access to SEDAR+.

While this process will take some time upfront, it will unlock access to new, timesaving features as soon as SEDAR+ is live, including automatic fee calculation and the ability to self-manage users in real-time through the web-based application.

SEDAR+ onboarding includes a streamlined process to submit:

  • New required information for organization accounts and issuer profiles
  • Updated agreements

The streamlined onboarding process will be available in October and November for those who want to ensure they have SEDAR+ access on day one.

Training: Learning how to use SEDAR+

Outreach to current SEDAR users begins in November. The SEDAR+ Learning Centre will be available in December, with the formal training window opening in January.

The online, publicly available SEDAR+ Learning Centre will host an extensive catalogue of on-demand course videos. The videos will be available to all future users and will be searchable by user type (e.g. public, filing agent, filer), topic and/or key words. The Learning Centre will be available 24/7 beginning in December.

The combination of courses and other transition resources, such as checklists and guides, will help subscribing organizations identify any internal practices that may need to be adjusted when SEDAR+ goes live.

On-demand learning is also available for public search of Cease Trade Orders (CTOs), disciplinary actions, issuers and documents. While no action is required of public users, they are welcome to take the public user training before SEDAR+ is live.

Pre-launch

Outreach to primary contacts of SEDAR subscribing organizations begins in December. The pre-launch window will be January and the beginning of February 2023.

In the weeks leading up to the launch, SEDAR subscribers will be informed of the actions they need to take before and immediately after SEDAR+ goes live.

Launch & beyond

Beginning February 2023

The launch of SEDAR+ comes with an online Help Centre that provides quick access to information on a variety of important filing subjects.

SEDAR+ will undergo regular updates to improve the user experience and add new features over time.
