SEDAR+ update: Message from the CSA CIO

With Spring comes welcome change – melting snow, blooming trees, growing grass. A different kind of change is also upon us at the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA), as we prepare to introduce SEDAR+ to Canada’s capital markets. The modernized web-based application will be a positive change for all of us, significantly improving the regulatory filing experience and creating a user-friendly, single source for securities information in Canada.

Planning and preparations for the transition to SEDAR+ are in the final stages. Our team has been working diligently to ensure capital market participants are well-prepared for the change that is coming.

This edition of SEDAR+ Connection focuses on our Pilot. In June, we will share a big picture view of the transition timeline, training, the overall process for gaining access to SEDAR+, and the support we’ll provide throughout.

SEDAR+ Pilot Program

Next month, the SEDAR+ Pilot Program gets underway. A select group of participants will build familiarity with an early version of SEDAR+, practice filing with real-life data and provide feedback on their experience.

The first group of Pilot participants begin their training in the next few weeks. That group includes regulatory staff – employees of CSA member jurisdictions who use the existing systems extensively. In July, a small number of pre-selected high-volume filers will join the Pilot.

The Pilot concludes at the end of August. The feedback of all participants will be used to further inform our transition plans, and make any final refinements to the system required to go live.

Thanks in advance to the Pilot participants, who will be taking extra time to get to know SEDAR+ while still using legacy SEDAR to submit filings to regulators.  Their generous time and feedback will help make the transition to SEDAR+ and the overall SEDAR+ experience better for all.
