SEDAR+ April Update

We recently released the latest SEDAR+ system update. It included enhancements to the user experience and behind-the-scenes technical updates to improve system performance.

While this latest update did not significantly change SEDAR+ functionality, filers and public users will notice some differences while working in the system.

Document content search now available

The most significant change is the document content search function, which makes issuer disclosure information more accessible. When SEDAR+ went live in July, the search function only provided results if the search term(s) were part of a document’s name.

This update means users can customize SEDAR+ searches so their search results include readable PDF* documents that contain the phrases being searched for – whether they are in the document name or the document itself.
(*Readable PDFs are documents that can be read by our search engine, image-based PDFs such as paper scans cannot be read.)

Here are examples of information you can find through document content search:

  • Any news releases that mention keywords of interest (e.g., crypto or AI), by entering the keyword on the Document search tab and selecting News Release Document Type(s).
  • An individual named in a Cease Trade Order that is filed against an issuer, by entering the individual’s name on the Cease Trade Order search tab.

Simplifying the search experience

This latest update also included some incremental updates that simplify the process of searching public information in SEDAR+. One change public users may notice is the removal of the “Filings” tab from the search options. The search capabilities that were on that tab, plus document search features, can be found on “Documents” Search tab. This is one example of the changes we’re making to streamline the search process.

I encourage you to visit the SEDAR+ Learning Centre to watch short how-to videos on the improved search options in SEDAR+.

ICYMI: Financial Disclosure Documents email alerts

In case you missed it (ICYMI), in early December we introduced an email alert subscription where you receive links to financial documents from up to 50 companies. You can sign up for the alerts by visiting www.sedarplus.ca

Ongoing enhancements

The evolution of SEDAR+ is ongoing, and planning is now underway for the next quarterly updates. We are focused on identifying and implementing continuous updates that will enhance the system’s performance and the overall experience for all SEDAR+ users.
