Upcoming developments on SEDAR+ for 2021
Updated December 9, 2020

The CSA has been steadily working on SEDAR+.To ensure a smooth transition between the existing national systems and SEDAR+, the CSA plans to roll SEDAR+ out in phases.

The first phase of SEDAR+, which is focused on issuer filings and will replace the Cease Trade Order database, the Disciplined List, SEDAR, and local exempt distribution reporting and issuer exemptive relief systems, will be rolled-out gradually, beginning in late 2021.

Once all phases of the program are completed, SEDAR+ will be the CSA’s national system for all market participants for filings, disclosure ,payment and information searching in Canada’s capital markets.

The replacement of the CSA’s current national systems is essential to market participants’ evolving needs.

In order to best prepare market participants for the full release of SEDAR+, the CSA is working on developing a gradual rollout of phase 1 of the  new system. This approach will support market participants’ successful transition to the new system by allowing users to adapt their business practices in time for the launch.

Further detailed information regarding SEDAR+ phase 1 including the rollout approach, launch timing, engagement opportunities, and transitional activities such as training, will be shared in Q1 2021.
